- Double-click on Pencil Tool - Fidelity: 0.5px, Fill new pencil strokes, Keep selected
- Draw a shape of a brush stroke and fill it with light gray
- Draw a shape of a larger brush stroke and fill it dark gray
- Draw a shape of the largest brush stroke and keep it transparent
- Align and select all the shapes
- Object > Blend > Blend Options - Smooth Color
- Object > Blend > Make
- Set the blended shape to Multiply in Transparency Window
- Drag the blended shape into Brushes Window - New Art Brush, Method: Tints
- Type text
- Type > Create Outlines
- Object > Path > Simplify - Curve Precision: 75%, Angle Threshold: 25
- Experiment with the outcome
- Type text in color
- Effect > Distort > Glass - Distortion: 10, Smoothness: 10, Texture: Blocks, Scaling: 200%
- Expand Appearance
- Live Trace
- Prepare an image in Photoshop
- Image > Adjustments > Desaturate
- Image > Adjustments > Posterize - Levels: 5
- Duplicate the layer
- Image > Adjustments > Threshold
- Create 5 pattern guide layers by changing Threshold Levels
- Open the Photoshop file in Illustrator
- Apply Live Trace on each pattern guide
- Adjust colors
- Select Pie Graph Tool
- Click and set Width and Hight
- Input numbers in percentage and click Apply
- Remove Stroke
- Select the pie graph
- Effects > 3D > Extrude and Bevel - Position: 55,0,0, Extrude Depth: 1/10 of the pie graph size, Ambient Light: 100%
- Object > Expand Appearance
- Duplicate the pie graph
- Select the original pie graph and ungroup twice
- Select pieces in the same color
- Window > Pathfinder - Add to shape area, Expand
- Set each parts of the pie graph in different colors
- Select the duplicated pie graph
- Cut of the top and leave two parts of the edge
- Apply Gradient - Type: Linear, Angle: -180, Gradient: Black to White to Black
- Group the parts and duplicate the gropu
- Paint the duplicated group white
- Place the white group under the gradient group
- Window > Transparency > Make Opacity Mask
- Align the masked group with the colored pie graph
- Set the masked group to Overlay
- Lower Opacity to 40%
- Create a texture
- Create a split circle
- Effect > 3D > Revolve - Position: Custom Rotation, 10, -25, 10, Surface: No Shading
- In Map Art window, select the created texture under Symbol and select Scale to Fit
- Effect > Stylize > Outer Glow
- Create two stroke paths in different colors with Pen Tool
- Object > Blend > Blend Options - Specified Steps: 10
- Select both paths
- Object > Blend > Make
- Duplicate the blended object or create new ones and combine them
